Out of Africa!

My family (spencer and I, my mom and dad, and Grace) went to Out of Africa yesterday. Seriously, it was unbelievable!!! I went when it was over my Fort McDowell, but haven't gone back since it moved. It was so worth the drive.

The Phoenix Zoo doesn't even compare to Out of Africa. The animals are so interactive. They are so happy, and up and moving. You really get a sense of how the act in the wild. We were able to hear a Lion Roar...it was amazing. Something that I didn't think I cared about, till I heard it. It really freaks you out to see how powerful they are.

Grace was afraid at first, but then was really excited about the Giraffe.

They let you do the "Giraffe Kiss". My dad, and Spencer both did it. You put the carrot in your mouth, and let the Giraffe kiss it out of your mouth!

This ostrich was really into my dad. They say to not touch them, b/c they will peck at you. But my dad is a wild man, and pet it on the head!

All of the above pictures were on the "safari". So worth it. The guide really knew what he was talking about, and gave a lot of information, and answered a lot of our questions.
This was so cool to watch. This is one of the caregivers. These huge cats LOVED him. They would cuddle, and play with him. If he would turn his back, then they would try and sneak up on him. It was so fun to watch.

These bears were so cute! Seriously...they just played! They were waiting by the fence for the guy who would feed him. Sure enough the man pulled up in a car, and this bear jumped up! He was shaking the fence with his paws.

This picture should have been first...this was the bear waiting.
Just a close up of a tiger. It was so remarkable how much the moved around, and played. Also, how close you got to them. It seems like the tiger at the zoo is always laying around, and is so far away. These cats were walking around playing, and you really got up close with them.
Grace and my dad looking at the lizard!

Big Lion! Seriously, we were watching this pride (one male, 2 females), and the male got one of the females pissed. They had a full on fight. It was totally freaky...they are so powerful and loud!
Spencer and Grace feeding the tiger.

This was the Tiger Splash. It was so cool to watch the tigers play with the workers. This tiger was sitting on one of the workers.

Can you believe that this lion is only 19 months old? Look how big her head is!!!
We had so much fun. Spencer was in heaven. He loves animals, and had so much fun learning about everything. We will totally be going back next year, and for years to come. It is a fun tradition, and a good time.

That does look super fun! Where was it at? Fun pictures... Um... I would be scared to be a caregiver. BUT, that would also be a really cool job.

I went there with my mom when I was young. I love it! It is one of my favorite zoos. I have a picture of me feeding the tiger too!

Your dad came over and told us all about it! We definitely need to take the girls! I cannot believe he fed the giraffe that way!

Cool!! That looks awesome! One time when I was in Mexico, we went to this golf course called el tigre & they had a baby tiger on a leash just chillin in the grass. So i pet it & played it it. No joke. It was cool-until he started to gnaw on my hands like a puppy...just the mere fact that it was a TIGER freaked me out. Tame or not. Anyway, that place you guys went looked really cool!
