Goals

Dear Posterity:

I get overwhelmed a little too easy for my liking. It is terribly annoying. Last month I was getting overwhelmed at everything I wasn't good at. I was obsessing over everything that other people could get accomplished, that I couldn't.

I wasn't really excelling at spiritual things. My house wasn't ever clean. I wasn't budgeting. I wasn't serving everyone in the world. I was tired. I wasn't skinny. I wasn't even making an effort to become skinny. I had rash...etc. You get the point. I was a self loathing fool! It was ridiculous!

I had Spencer give me a blessing. I needed assistance. Who am I kidding. I ALWAYS need assistance. It was delightful, and just what I needed to hear.

I decided to focus on small things. Progressively getting more and more done. It turns out that the lord really knows how to work your problems out.

I made 3 goals. 1. Make sure my girls feel how much I love them everyday 2. Budget 3. Keep my house a tiny bit cleaner.

So far I think my girls feel the love. Budgeting is super hard. But we are getting the hang of it. I have picked up the envelope system. I LOVE it. I am glad we are learning self control. My house is still pretty messy. But, it's lived in. We have fun, and I am getting over it.

I am so much happier.

Love,
A gal that believes that by small and simple things great things happen!

The cash only (I think its the same as envolope) budget is totally the best way to go... we paid off all our debt this way

We've tried several different budgets over the years and it's taken me awhile to find something that works for us. (I adore mint.com if you ever transition back to debit/credit cards.) I'm glad you found something that works and congrats on making progress! I'm so proud of you!

Um, am I the dummy that doesn't know what envelope means? We're bad budgeters, but we've always seemed to save at least a little except for a couple years when life just sucked with next to zero income. But we had a life savings we relied on that got us through! Man, those prophets sure know what they're talking about...

You're right, I have to take it an inch at a time if I want to remain sane as well. Your honesty is so refreshing, it's nice to know you also have feelings of being inadequate in being a stay at home mom. It's funny though because you have so many talents and skills that are so obvious to everyone but you probably. You are so talented with home decor and redoing furniture and everything in between, you are amazing at arranging flowers you have such a good eye for it, you are so crafty with all the cute things you make for you and your girls, you are hilarious very few people are as fun and entertaining to talk to, and your gorgeous sometimes from reading your blog I think you might be a little pudgy or something but you always look so thin and hot every time I see you, SERIOUSLY. Even RIGHT after having Penny you looked amazing at the funeral. Pretty much I'm saying you are freakin awesome!!!

It's amazing how overwhelmed we can get. You are not alone! Also what is this envelope budgeting thing? I should probably start it....
