Graces endearing qualities

I think there are different kinds of moms. Some moms are terrible (drugs, drinking, beating, neglecting). Some moms are very organized, there is nothing wrong with being organized. Some moms are clean freaks. I personally can't relate to organized/clean freak moms. Not that I think they are bad...sometimes I wish I was more like them. I just happen to not have that kind of personality.
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. I have plenty of strengths...but none of them consist of being a clean freak. I figure I have the rest of my life to work on becoming a cleaner, more organized mom.
For the time being I will focus on one of my strengths. Some might not consider this a strength...some might even think I am a bad mom. I on the other hand really like this quality about myself. I love letting Grace do what she loves to do. I love watching Grace get dirty, I love it when she eats the wood (I do stop her, but I think it is so cute that she can watch Finn do that, and then mimic it herself). I love it when Grace wants to wear the same dress 3 days in a row, I don't mind putting the same dirty dress on Grace. Not that I think that Grace should run ramped though the streets....I try and teach manners. BUT if you want to know my thoughts about motherhood here they are...

" If it isn't hurting, or morally wrong...then don't worry about it!"

The other night Grace spilled salsa on the floor. It didn't bother me. Sure I try and have her eat in the kitchen, and sure I get embarrassed when people see how dirty my carpet is. But I sorta like myself better when I let things like that go!
My parents have a kitty. Grace is OBSESSED with this cat. So much so, that my mom found her in the Landry room (where the cats food is), laying on her tummy eating out of the cat food bowl like the kitty does. My mom flipped...I thought it was endearing.

Today I caught her drinking out of Finns water dish.

It put a smile on my face.

Isn't it funny that I have such a hard time relaxing as a wife, but that I feel like one of the most relaxed moms around? I think it has something to do with motherhood coming so naturally.

Although that is silly of Grace, you may want to make sure that she can't get to the water when you're not around. A young girl like her could easily drown in that amount of water.

You are a good Mom.
I like your mommy style.
And to whoever left the last comment....a lot could happen to your kid a lot of times.
Leaving your kid alone in their crib, they could suffocate. But, that stops...uh, no one.
pfff.
Get a grip.
Jami, you are doing great!

I think I am a little bi-polar when it comes to mothering. Sometimes I am totally laid back and I let the kids play with anything (pots and pans, kitchen utensils, real food from the pantry), anywhere (the whole world i.e. anywhere on our property :P, is their playground). And then there are other times (like when I am trying to be an organized clean freak) that I freak out when there are toys anywhere besides their bedrooms. Which is all the time. So you think I would get over trying to be an organized clean freak. Yet somehow, it seems to slip out every now and then.

I can't figure it out. Especially since it never.ever.ever works.

haha I love it. You are a great mom! I on the other hand, am very anal, ocd, clean freak. SOMETIMES. I do know how to relax & let things go too. I think I'm a good mix. It'll be interesting to see how I am with my kids...in my head I know I want them to always be clean & not gross but at the same time, I know kids are kids & they should be able to explore and enjoy life as they please....it'll be interesting when I have kids. I hope I can be more like you when that day comes. You're a great mom and Grace is so cute & that's so funny how she loves cats & dogs so much she wants to eat & drink like them :)

Laughing at the small stuff is what will keep you sane! Oh, and taking pictures of it too. When Aniston was 2 she used a whole tube of toothpaste to decorate the bathroom. When I found her, I laghed, took a picture, then told her she could never do it again(she never did).
PS
they have pretty much ruled out cardiac with my chest pain, although I see my cardiologist on the 9th. I would love to chat sometime though!

Yay! I really do love your style of mothering. Cat food isn't really going to hurt anyone. And you can totally embarrass her when she's older :)

grace really is endearing. she cracks me up too.

i love you as a mom. you're adorable. knowing that you have grace's best interest at heart and that you would bend over backwards to keep her safe and healthy, i think your laid back attitude is just what her little personality needs. she will grow up a much happier girl, i'm sure. and she probably won't feel the need to rebel so much when she's older.

it will be interesting to see what comes naturally to me as a mom...

I love that little girl EVEN if she slurps ranch, eats dog and cat food, drinks dogs water, and chews on the bench. IM sure I will finally get a grip and I will let Presley do all those same things... Ill get there. You are my inspiration. Thanks for being a good example.
