Grace FINALLY got her tubs in today. We have been waiting for this day to come for MONTHS! She hasn't had any infections for a while, but still had tons of fluid build up, and I didn't want to risk anything with winter coming on.
So I woke up at 5:00 in the morning (can I say how much I hate 5:00 in the morning), and got myself ready, and then had Spencer get all of Graces things together to go. He gave her a blessing, and then we were off. Spencer couldnt' go, because he had school, so my mom came with us. We went in my moms car, because she has a DVD player in there, and I knew Grace was not going to be happy getting woken up, and THEN not being able to eat. So I would like to make a shout to Baby Enstine, you were a life saver today.
We drove there, and Grace did really good. Then we got to the surgery center, and got in and THANK HEAVENS they had cartoons playing. I handed her off to my mom, while I did some paper work. That was no bueno...so my mom did the paper work. She sat and watched cartoons, but would randomly throw her head back in the nursing position, and whine to eat. I felt so bad, because I just wished I would explain why I couldn't feed her. The poor thing probally thought I was being mean. Anyways, we waiting for about 40 mins, and then they took us back. They explained everything, and had me sign some stuff. Then the lady come to take Grace away. I knew that this was going to be hard, because for one, Grace wasn't even happy with me, so I KNEW she was going to have a core melt down if someone elts took her away. Regradless I gave her up, with lots of kisses and loves, and she freaked out, but they say the the babies who are screaming the loudest go to sleep the fastest b/c they suck the gas is really fast. Anyways, kinda a sick thought, but somewhat comforting.
We walked to the waiting room, and in about 2 mins, they brought her back to me. SO FAST! She was screaming again. She was just confused waking up from the surgery. She was hungery, so I hurried and started to nurse her. She FREAKED OUT! She nursed for about 5 mins, and then started to freak out! She was thrashing around, and hitting me, and scratching me. For starters, all the other babies/toddlers in the room that were waking up were just soundly sleeping, or talking with their parents. Grace on the other hand was morfing into a demon of some sort. I was feeling so bad. The nurse cleared us to go, and so we got in the car, and she calmed down some. Then I turned on the movie again, and she calmed down more, but still randomly started to scream. By the time we got home, she was asleep. I nursed her some more, and then layed her down, and she slept for a solid 2 hours.
Right now she is playing all over the place, and you can't even tell you got tubs in this morning. I am so gratful for advanced medical proceeders. I don't know what I would do without them. I am so gratful everything went GREAT!
I am so happy that the tubs are in, and we don't have to worry about her getting infections all the time, and then getting rash butt, and THEN me getting thrush, and THEN her having to be on AB all the time. YEAH for TUBS!

YEAH! Glad to hear everything went okay for her! I still haven't decided what to do with Parker yet?? He has fluid too but hasn't had an infection for awhile....
Oh my heck, that would be so hard! I think I would be crying right along with Kaydence, knowing she was hungry and hurting and a stranger was coming to take her. I am so grateful that we live in a time of such medical advances, I think that is one of the greatest blessings of living in this day (second to the fullness of the gospel being restored). That's great that she recovered so fast.
HEY! Im glad everything went well for the most part with Grace :) I had tubs three times as a baby and young girl!! i still remember dozing off to the anesthesia... and THEN... it was already over!!!! I havent had a problem with my ears since!!ummm, Youve had thrush?!... oh my. Im so sorry, its the hardest thing. Bless your little heart ;) Good luck with everything!
Don't you now feel a sigh of relief, you won't dread ear infections now like you used to.I think Presley had her first on since the tubes, because a week ago I saw some crusty fluid around her ears,so this is a sign that they are working. I could tell that she was uncomfortable for like 2 days and then I saw the crusty so I put 2 and 2 together and realized what it was.It was so great that it wasn't this long drawn out process of having to take her to the doctor and get an ab and blah blah,2 days and it was over. I can handle that. I have a reccomendation for you though, definately get some ear plugs made. I didn't get any made till a week ago and it makes bathing so easy. I was just using putty before and she hated when I would put it in and then they would fall out,so these molds are the perfect shape and are guarenteed to keep the water out.mine cost 50 bucks and I probably would pay 100 for them, they are great. I am so happy for you and Grace, winter won't be a dread.
Yeah! Now all is right in the world. Julianne had tubes placed when she was 11 months and never needed ABX again till she was 4! Our ENT told us there was no need for ear plugs though so before you pay for specially made ones you might want to follow up with your Dr. BTW Juliannes tubes just fell out over the last year. Thats 8 years in.
I hope mommy has fully recovered too. That is so hard, when your baby is upset.
I'm glad she was able to get them! Hopefully all your problems are behind you now.
Ahh the days of ear infections! I had to get tubes in my ears two or three times. It wasn't fun but I always loved that after a surgery I got ice cream!
so glad it went well! i saw grace tonight! she is so adorable!
hooray! I think whoever invented those tubes has definitely earned their halo.
