I am SPITTING angery!

OK, I haven't been this mad since the last person told me not to vaccinate Grace...or there was that one time that my pediatrician told me that she didn't think I was making enough milk for Grace, and that she wasn't gaining enough weight (what the heck...grace is 9 1/2 month, if I wasn't making enough milk I would know by now)! Anyways, that is besides the point...right now I am SOOO mad!
Spencer and I are really nice people. I may be on the more negative side, and BLUNT sometimes, and maybe I give alittle bite to much personal detail about my life...but I would never put myself OR my husband in the "drug addict" classification. As a matter of fact I would say we are MORE than nice. Spencer is going to COLLEGE full time, and getting really good grades. He is always working to fix up a junkie house (last time I checked that was something that helped the community). I am taking care of my kid...ALL DAY. I still nurse her, because I feel like she receives more nutrition this way. I give my kid 3 square meals everyday, and have her on a semi-schedule. For heavens sakes I put homeopathic bug spray on her everyday morning and night so that she doesn't get eaten by mesquites, and doesn't get poisoned by the nasty chemicals in bug replant...how is that for GOOD NICE PERSON? Spencer and I go to church every Sunday. We give an honest tithe, and we try our hardest at our callings. I am pretty sure that we are nice people who don't do bad things like...drugs, or beat our children, or break the law PERIOD!
You would think that we look like nice people...well except for our junkie car! I am sorry but we are poor, we are too busy paying for school, a baby, a house, food, gas...the list goes on. We can not afford a nice car, and if our car gets dented, or maybe "someone" backs into a poll and breaks the back tail light...WE CAN"T AFFORD TO FIX IT! So we are forced to drive around with red tape covering our broken tail light. And if it rains or the wind blows too hard, the red tape fall off.
Now I don't know about you people...but I don't go and check my back tail light everyday...I am not responsible like that. Heck I am too busy being a nice person.
So on this every so lovely night, after working on our house for hours, we finally get to go home. WAIT...back up. So before we went to work on our house, we took my parents dog to the house with us. I guess the dog got out while we were working, and then right when we were about to leave we realized that she was gone. Ok, back to the story. So as we were going home we decided to drive around the neighborhood, looking for our lost dog. We are driving down a main st, and driving slow so that I could look out the window for our dog. We as we are driving slow, we get PULLED OVER!!! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? What, just because we can't afford a nice car, and a back tail light? So we pull over right away (because we are nice people, that follow the law), and the officer comes to Spencer side (driver side), and asks 'do you know your back tail light is broken"
"um yes officer, my dad told me today that I needed to fix it"
"licence and registration, and proof of insurance" (all of which we have, BECAUSE WE ARE NICE PEOPLE),
"does she (meaning me) have identification?"
"no" (let me ask you...why would I have ID, I am not driving).
So then he takes the stuff to his car, and all of the sudden I have this BRIGHT light shining in my face. The SECOND officer (yes, two cops pulled over...we are really dangerous apparently), is shinning a light in my face...I am sure that he is making sure I am not drunk or on drugs, or maybe a prostitute. THEN he shines his light in the back of the car...looking to see if maybe we have a opened bottle of beer, or maybe a kidnapped baby, or some stolen guns??? I don't know...all he found was some spilled star puffs, and baby toys (ok, maybe the back of my car is really dirt...but I hate that car, and I HATE cleaning it even more).
So the officer comes back, and says...
"ok, here is your stuff, you are fine."
WELL DUH!!!!!
Then we turn around and go home!
WHAT THE HECK!!!! Do ONLY nice people get pulled over. I swear I have been pulled over like 5 times since getting my drivers licence...and the sad thing is that it is only for like speeding. Like 5 over. So while there are people breaking into houses, and killing, or illegals coming across the border and stealing our tax money...WE are getting pulled over for a broken tail light.
I am just wondering..is the system set up to get the nice people, or is it just a complete failer?

That stinks! Caleb got pulled over the other day for a burned-out tail light and headlight too. He suggests going to a salvage yard to pick up the parts for the tail light. Caleb's gone to the salvage yard to fix lots of things-- the side view mirror when someone ripped it off, for example. It's a cheap way to fix it, especially on an older car you don't want to spend a lot of money on.

i'm sorry you got pulled over. i would say it must have been a slow night, except for all the other things you mentioned that the cops should have been doing :)

Were you able to find Madge at least?

Oh Jami, I feel your pain. We got pulled over on the way home from Lake Powell. We were behind a cop driving the SAME speed he was going (which was 16 mph over) and he had the nerve to pull US over for speeding! I hate cops. Seriously, do they not have anything better to do?!

In Provo, we got pulled over for having a broken tail light (we are also poor) but even though we said we were going to fix it, he still gave us like a 60 dollar ticket or something like that.

We got the ticket removed and canceled by fixing the light right away however.

In Provo I got a $105 ticket for going 25 in a 15 (on center street), and in high school, I got a ticket for "touching the dotted white line with my tires as I drove".

So ya, those things can be frustrating.

That's weird that they asked Spencer if YOU had ID. I hate it when people talk to someone else about you, when they can just ask you! Maybe they thought you were an illegal. hahaha kidding

Not to take the cop's side, but a sign that someone might be driving under the influence of alcohol is that they are driving below the speed limit. I look at it as reassurance and a comfort to know that officers are out there doing their job and looking out for us (not that you would pose a threat to anyone, but what if it had been a drunk driver).

I know officers will pull people over for small things like that and have another motive. I got pulled over twice for a burnt out license plate light. Once because the officer had a rookie with him and a second time because the officer knew my dad and brother and wanted to see who was driving.
