Anyways, I would always swear to myself that I would NEVER EVER have a garden or fruit trees myself. AND I WOULD NEVER CAN!
Now that I have my own house...I find myself wanting a garden. It is beyond weird for me to admit this. I just get mad at myself for not having one when I drop 35 bucks at the farmers market for fresh organic fruits and veggies. So Spencer finally jumped on the band wagon, and has been working his tail end off getting our garden ready. We are doing the "square foot" gardening method. Everyone SWEARS by it. In all honesty I feel a little partial to the "row method" just b/c that is what my parents do. But I am trying to step out of my box.
So right now we have Tomato's, Cucumbers, Squash, Onions, Zucchini, and Cantaloupe growing. I am so excited I can barely stand it. I just want TONS of veggies. But we will see if me and Spencer can keep these suckers alive. I mean I guess that we have done a decent job with keeping Grace alive...
Now that I have a garden growing in my backyard I feel like I am 35 instead of 22. Seriously...I feel like I have entered into the adult world.
Here are so pictures...
The picture of our WHOLE backyard is to show to TRUE white trashiness. I just look at that picture and it screams "you are white trash". I don't know why...our backyard is just terrible looking. I wish that I would fix it up, but then that takes time and money, and most importantly ENERGY!!! So it remains ugly. Hopefully the grass will fill in this summer, and look somewhat better.

It's still way too cold to start ours, but I'm going to try the square foot one this time, too! I'm really excited.
Good luck with the garden. Our first attempt was an epic fail last year. This year we are gonna try a "salsa garden" and only grow stuff we would use in salsa and I will become a great homemade salsa maker.
I LOVE that you have a garden! So cute!
have you heard of bountiful baskets? you get TONS of fruits and veggies for 15 bucks, it's amazing! www.bountifulbaskets.org
your garden looks awesome!
Am I too late to plant a garden this year? I really want to.
K.. for years I have shared your hatred for family gardening..seriously might be the worst chore in the world!- BUT this past year I also have been wanting to garden.. strange. too bad my condo doesnt have a backyard- i will have to live vicariously through your garden!!
Cute tires! Good luck keeping your dog out of the gardens, that was the downfall of our last garden. Oh and FYI our neighborhood has lots of stray cats who love the SFG mix. Sprinkling Cayene pepper on the dirt every couple days seems to help!
i've been wanting to grow a garden too. i think this post has given me the inspiration i've been needing. i love the tire idea too!
