I have an annocement! After 14 months I am finally done nursing Grace. She is now 15 months, so I am a little late posting, but it really has only been like 1 week since I last nursed her.
I have been wheanning for months, and I just finally gave it up! Grace has done good. The first couple of days were rough, but now she doesn't even notice! I am sure I mentioned the "N" word (nursing) that she would still want it...but I am not going down that road. She just drinks a bottle with 2% milk now.
I seriously loved nursing. I think it is wonderful. I don't want to come across as a crazy granola person that thinks EVERYONE MUST nurse their kids. I understand that it is a personal decision, and that it doesn't work out for everyone.
But I also think it is worth the effort. I know that it is a lot of work in the beginning, but it sure does pay off. The first 3 months are hard, but if you can get past that point you will be SO glad that you worked though it.
It is just such a wonderful bonding expirence for you and your baby. AND, this is the best part....
IT IS FREE!!!!! Yeah for free things!
I know that some people simply can't produce enough milk, or just plain and simple don't like some little person sucking on their boob all day long. That is understandable.
But I loved my nursing expirence! BUT, I am glad it is OVER!! wink wink!

The thought of me nursing makes me uncomfortable, but I know it's a healthy choice for babies and, like you said...FREE. So I'm sure I'll get over my awkwardness and do it when the time comes.
Congratulations! Nursing is a great thing and there are so many benefits in it, but I did not enjoy doing it. Even though I would have felt better if I could have nursed Simeon longer, I also felt so relieved to have a good excuse to stop. So now you have one less thing to worry about! Yea!
I am totally like you...I love to nurse, but it nice when it's done. It's such a special experience to share with your little baby and plus, all the health benefits! I agree that too many women give up too quickly. It's kind of my soapbox so I should stop here...
Congrats! I have a couple of quick question because I've been toying with the idea of weaning Dallin. How did you keep it up for so long? Did Grace's teeth bother you? Dallin just got one in and it drives me crazy (and makes me nervous) when I'm nursing. He takes a bottle fine and formula but at the same time I'm not sure I'm ready for him to be done with me.
Hooray! Good for you!
that is a long time nursing... very impressive! i hope to one day have a baby suck on my teet and produce milk. {haha.. sorry.} but i'm totally pro nursing, so i think this is great!
Woohoo! I started trying to wean Kennedy but then she's had a cold for the last month and all she wants to do is nurse. I'm actually going backwards. Oh well.
Yay for free things! That is awesome you loved it so much! What a good mom!
Congrats for this.

Good for you!! Nursing can be tough-- especially sticking with it for that long.
