Deer Hunt

This last weekend I went out deer hunting with my brothers. We left pretty excited because of previous scouting trips we were able to located a few good bucks. But....there was a hunt a few weekends before ours and we found out from a local rancher that there were a few bucks taken off this paticular mountain. And in additons to most of the water tanks being completely dry I think the rest of the deer moved off this mountain. So we came home empty handed. It was still so much fun but it was one of the toughest hunts I have been on. We drove in a few miles on a back road all the way to the border of the Wilderness Area. Then we would wake up about 5ish in the morning a hike a few miles back into the country and around this mountain. In all, I bet we hiked about 10-12 miles around this mountain. That was tough, but not the hard part. The hard part was the wind!! It probably was going about 40 mph and it was cold on the mountain. We would sit and try to glass the mountain sides and canyons while freezing out bums off. Overall, I had a blast and there just isn't anything like the outdoors.

Here are a few pictures of the area. From the top of the mountain you could see both Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake.
