New Decorating

OK, so this morning something must have been in my water, because I have the "decorating bug"! Usually I am pretty lazy in the morning, but THIS morning, I have been BUSY. I cleaned the spots on my carpet (it is SO gross in our back room), and then put together a wall arrangement in the dinning room. I took the mirror out of the cutest mirror I bought this weekend. AND, I went running! This kind of morning nearly NEVER happens in my life, so I have to take advantage when it does.
But I have some advice to ask of the blogger people out there. What do you think of my wall arrangement? Do you think I should replace the "P" with a vintage plate, or leave it the way it is? I do like the "p", but I do think a plate would look cute too? Let me know blogger people...
ALSO, I am in turmoil with my mirror frame. I LOVE the gold vintage look. BUT, I don't know if it matches the decor of my back room. Now, for the most part I think my back room is coming along nicely, but then I took a picture of it to post about, and looked at it. Now I think it is not the cutest room AT ALL. It needs A LOT of work. But that isn't the point, I just wanted to make sure you all knew that I KNEW that my back room isn't done yet. So do you think I should paint the frame black? I am thinking that would be best. But again...let me know blogger people.
Thanks!

I really like the P. That mirror frame is beautiful! It would probably look good either way, but once you get rid of its vintage beauty, there is no going back. I have hardly started decorating my house. Thanks for the nudge and ideas you post.

I love finding treasures. I love the mirror you found @ the garage sale on Alma school. I know what I would do with it. I've saved this picture from a decor mag where they turned the mirror into a chalboard keeping the frame. Theu hung it in their kitchen and it was to die for. We should get Whit and go hit some thrift stores/garage sales...HEAVEN!

I like the P, but I think the wall needs just something more. Don't ask me what. The mirror is capital C Classic and will always looks awesome no matter what you do with it. (I'm fairly jealous btw) The gold still works with your back room because of some of the tones in your couch. I say leave it. You can always change it.

Feel free to disregard all opinions. But I figured since you asked I would give them.

Ok Jami you dont have to like any of my ideas, but here goes. I think your such an awesome decorator and im jeslous of all the wonderful things you find. Your amazing at seeing so much potential in all your finds. My idea for the mirror is to paint it black then go and gold leat all the edgeing and fansty stuff on the frame,if you dont quite understand my idea we can talk at Sunday dinner about it..:-) The P arrangement is wonderful I just think it needs something more too but I dont really know what. I do have a few ideas but they may be too complicated to explain in this post, so lets talk at Sunday dinner. I just love decorating. Your beautiful as always!!

ok, firstly, the mirror frame is stunning the way it is. i say, leave it. it totally goes.

secondly, how big is this plate you're talking about? i say, put the plate inside the circular frame. i think that will give it the "something extra" everybody is talking about.

I say keep it as it is...and I love the "P". I have a similar wall arrangement with a "B" or course :)

Somehow I missed this post so I am a little late in responding. I say change the mirror. If you don't want to go all the way black, at least glaze it a little darker. But what do I know?
(I've seen the chalkboard thing on a couple of blogs. Very cute. But do you really need a chalk board in that room?)
